Meet the Bunting Beret & Purse set! This delightful set is a reimagining of an original 1950s crochet pattern - see final photo of the 1955 crocheted set!

The Bunting Beret & Purse knitting pattern uses the uncommon combination of seed stitch and colorwork. This gives the fabric a similar texture and density to the original. It gives the colorwork a more 3-dimensional look, and keeps things interesting even in the sections that only use the main color. This is the closest combination I’ve come across to give knitted fabric the appearance of a crochet texture!
Both items are worked seamlessly in the round, and an i-cord tie is made to finish off the top of the purse. There is a cardboard & felt insert at the bottom of the purse to help it maintain its circular shape.

This and many other vintage inspired patterns are available exclusively at Squid’s School of Vintage Knitting on patreon. Come join in the fun!
