The Burlington Hat is knit completely in mistake rib. This stitch makes the hat extremely stretchy and squishy, so each knit size will fit many sizes of heads. It is also completely reversible.

This hat is knit in the round from the bottom up using the mistake rib stitch. Mistake rib is a simple stitch made of offset knits and purls. Each row is knit in a 2x2 pattern, but just offset by one stitch. This creates a wonderfully squishy, stretchy and reversible fabric. This stitch pattern is inherently stretchy, but with good recovery. Therefore, the baby-child size will fit many head sizes, from 36 – 51 cm / 14 – 20” circumference. The teen-adult small with fit head sizes 46 – 61 cm / 18 – 24”. The adult large will fit head sizes 53.5 – 71 cm / 21 – 28” (allowing for big hair!)
