Burnish is available through CustomFit - each Burnish pattern is created specifically to your choice of measurements and gauge.

Burnish came about by special request: The wonderful Jennifer from Spirit Trail Fiberworks sent me a picture of an old, favorite sweater for inspiration. (I love things like that.) Her favorite cardigan was comfortable, warm, and the kind of daily-wear sweater I adore - I dressed my version up a bit with simple eyelets and twisted 1x1 ribbed trim.

You can customize your own in CustomFit, but are the details on my version: A mid-hip cardigan with long sleeves, twisted 1x1 ribbed trim, and simple eyelet stripes. I’ve kept the fit more refined for this one, with waist shaping on the front and back, and Jackie is wearing the cardigan with an average fit.

The sample is knit in Spirit Trail Fiberworks Vesta, a new yarn I’m really excited about. It’s a quick-knitting bulkier yarn at 4 stitches to the inch, and is both soft and springy. Combine the lovely base with Jennifer’s beautiful colors, and you’ve got a lovely cardigan for sure. The sample is shown in the color “Red Tiger’s Eye”.

One more note on yardage – while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make Burnish in the size and gauge of your choice. And it’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.
