Housing can be a right, or an investment, but not both.

This pattern was designed as part of a yarn bomb project with a few friends. Our plan was to make as many 1.5-3 foot houses as we could and use them as a yarn bomb to decorate a local homeless encampment. It was something that I could easily freestyle, but since I’ve been trying to write up more patterns recently, I decided to write it up.

A few notes:

  • Gauge is unimportant, just be prepared for a size/yardage requirement adjustment
  • I have erred on the side of needing more yardage rather than less
  • This pattern includes both the techniques and the direct pattern - you can download them together, or just one or the other separately.

Yardage and Materials

  • ~220-240 yards of MC (house)
  • ~20-30 yards of CC1 (windows)
  • ~130-150 yards of CC2 (roof and door)
  • 4.5mm hook, or an appropriate hook to obtain gauge

Techniques with Photo Tutorials

  • Standing Double Crochet
  • Foundation Single Crochet
  • Mock Intarsia Color Changes
