There are actually 2 patterns in the instructions; one is a solid pattern, the other has little wing motifs that is more difficult to knit. Either pattern works with either weight yarn below.
The purple boa is KP Simply Cotton Sport in Duchess Heather: two 50-gram balls@164 yards per ball=100 grams/328 yards. It has a heavier, softer, drapier feel of the two.
The black boa with little wing motifs is KP Gloss Lace in Black: one 50-gram hank@440 yards per hank. It is more dressy, lighter in weight, and the pattern is more difficult.
All use size 8 needles; the size of the boa is the same in either yarn, but the sport yarn has a weightier feel. I especially enjoy the duchess heather around my neck; it is so soft and really pretty…washable too!
