My Butterfly Granny Square Pillow is one of my book cover inspired pillows. It is inspired by the cover of Julia Alvarez’s book, In the Time of the Butterflies. The front is composed of nine 3D butterfly granny squares. The back is simply a pink traditional granny square. I couldn’t resist adding some pink! The pillow is joined with a single crochet stitch along three sides of the pillow, and the bottom is held together by five buttons. This allows the pillow to be taken on and off of the insert. There are step by step photos included in the pattern. I used MillaMia Naturally Soft Cotton yarn for this project, but any sport weight yarn would work.
Note: I have recently updated the pattern pdf. The updated pdf includes stitch abbreviations, additional information about gauge and size, and explains how to add the buttons to the pillow.
