This shrug requires minimal finishing, sewing about 6” seams for sleeves.
Gauge is not essential, guidelines are given.
The pattern as written will give a “small” size if you knit at an average tension. For larger sizes, all you need to do is add the “pattern repeats”.
You can measure as you go to assure a perfect fit.
In testing this pattern, many different yarns have been used-DK, lt. worsted and worsted wts., they all seem to work well.
Needed: approx. 450-475 yds., sizes 10 & 13 needles.
Level: easy
Please note****
Another helpful hint regarding sizing: The ribbed cuffs can be snug if you are a larger size. I would recommend casting on with 48 sts instead of 36 and just follow the increases from this point up to the 72 sts.
My recommendations for the best yarns to use:
Universal Classic Shades (worsted)
Brett Marble DK (a dk but knits up more like a worsted)
Cascade Pinwheel (worsted)
Madelinetosh DK
I have used other yarns also but if you choose a DK, it should be a heavier wt- not a thin type.
I hope this will help with your yarn selection and you get the results you want.
