The buttons that make up this quilt are stuffed stocking stitch circles surrounded by flat garter stitch frames. They are easy to knit and each one uses only a small amount of yarn so this is an ideal project for all those leftover scraps of sock yarn. As well as quilts, the buttons could also be sewn together to make cushions or bags. Knitted with 4 ply yarn each button is about 5cm square, bigger buttons could be made with thicker yarn.
