The pattern is available here after you join TKGA.org for $35 per year, possibly the best deal in the knitting world.

Here is a fun little project that you can whip up in no time. In fact, it’s both fun and practical. If you’re like me and have a cup of coffee sitting next to you as you knit, this little wrap will help keep it warm during those long stretches between sips. This basic pattern may be easily enhanced in creative ways. To add stripes, just change colors of yarn whenever and wherever you like, as in the Variations 1–3 (below). You could also add a bit of intarsia, perhaps a diamond or another simple motif, in the center of the strip. Or create a motif in duplicate stitch. Or add a knit/purl pattern or even a simple cable pattern if you like. Just be sure to button it around the cup before you fill it with coffee. Otherwise you may end up with coffee all over the counter.  This pattern accompanies the Special Topics in Finishing article about sewing on buttons.
