Buttoned V-Front Scarf/Cowl with Fringe
Size of finished scarf/cowl will vary depending on yarn, hook and number of stitches in starting chain, and whether you make it as a cowl or a full length scarf.
The pattern is relatively easy - advance beginner onwards.
The pattern is suitable for any yarn, with an appropriate sized hook. 5mm is the smallest size recommended to obtain a lacy look. If you prefer a denser looking hook, experiment and use a smaller hook. There is no “right” or “wrong” way with this pattern - if you like it, then it’s perfect.
Gauge is not important, but consistency of tension is. If you begin with a loose tension, then later have a tighter tension, it will look like you have skipped a stitch or two. Try to keep your tension consistent and make sure your stitch count is right throughout.
Depending on the length of the scarf or cowl, this pattern should take less than one 100g ball of yarn for the cowlor up to 2 or more for a longer scarf. Also, fringing can gobble up yarn, so be sure to have an extra, just in case.
I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I have enjoyed designing and making it.
