A mini-stocking holiday ornament, this patterns is designed to be the right size to look good in a garland alongside Smitten mini-mittens. By The Chimney mini-stockings can be knit as ornaments for the tree, strung along a cord (knit, crochet, or braid your own out of yarn!) or ribbon as a garland, can be an advent calendar if you have 24, or make cute gifts. Mix-and-match By The Chimney with Smitten for alternating stockings and mittens in your garland or calendar!

The patterns calls for worsted weight yarn knit on US 5 / 3.75 mm needles at a fairly tight gauge, but can be adjusted for whatever size of yarn you’d like to use. This is a great pattern for scraps and especially fun in handspun. The sample By The Chimney stockings I knit ranged from 15 to 22 yards used.

Pattern assumes that you know the following skills: I-cord, knitted cast-on, knitting in the round, increases, decreases, and kitchener stich/grafting. There are links to two grafting tutorials if you are not familiar with it.
