So much of my inspiration comes from creatures in the ocean. Their unique shapes, colours, and textures never cease to enchant me. C. cardissa, commonly known as the heart cockle, sparked me to design an heart shaped shawl. C.cardissa is a bivalve mollusc that lives mainly under algae and sand in reef flats exposed to the sun. It can be variegated in colour and has a fluted edge. This shawl is good for variegated or solid colour yarns…a nice way to clear up some of your stash, while completing an easy breezy knit on the beach…with a bit of lace trim. And, if you have additional yarn you can add a ruffled edge.

I am using a sport weight yarn on large needles. And, if you have not read it before, here it is again: “I am a loose knitter living with Loose Knitting Syndrome, or LKS, if you are a tighter to regular tension knitter please adjust needle size accordingly, thank you.”
The body is knit in stockinette or garter and then you move to the next section with 2 choices and the 3 and 4th sections each with 3 choices- many shawls from one pattern! The lace is in charts only.

You may need one more skein if you would like to make the ruffle edge option, for a shawl with ruffle I used: I used sport weight colour A -262 yards, sport weight colour B- 131 yards, and a half skein of colour C -65 yards.

C. cardissa, de nom commun bucarde-coeur de Vénus, m’a poussé a créer un châle en forme de coeur. C. Cardissa est une espèce de mollusque bivalve qui vie principalement sous les algues et sable des récifs plats exposés au soleil. Elles peuvent être de couleurs bigarrées et ont une bordure cannelées. Ce châle se prête donc bien aux laines bigarées ou de couleur unie… une bonne occasion de diminuer votre resèrve, tout en complétant un tricot facile sur la plage… avec un peu de dentelle pour la bordure.

J’utilise une laine sport weight sur des grosses aiguilles. Et, au cas où vous ne le sauriez pas encore: “je tricote de manière très relâché et souffre de LKS (Syndrome de Tricot Relâché), si vous tricotez de manière serré ou normal, veuillez ajuster la taille de vos aiguilles en accordance, merci!”

En suivant la tendance du moment, ce châle est un mystère avec des choix. La partie principale est tricottée en stockinette ou point mousse avant de passer à la section suivante, qui aura 2 choix, puis les sections 3 et 4, qui auront 3 choix chacune! Le patron pour la dentelle est seulement en forme de diagramme.
