The Cabin Socks are lightweight yet warm, perfect for those chilly fall and winter nights. This two-stranded colorwork design is great for beginner knitters looking for their next challenge, and still engaging for intermediate knitters. By the time you finish your new socks, you will be a pro at two-stranded colorwork!
This cuff-down sock begins with a basic Long Tail cast on followed by a stretchy 2x2 rib. After a few repeats of the colorwork pattern for the leg, the heel is made with Shadow Wrap short rows. This method does not require picking up any stitches for a gusset. The colorwork pattern is repeated down to the toe which is worked with paired decreases and the remaining stitches are grafted together with a Kitchener stitch.

Difficulty: Beginner/Advanced beginner

Techniques: Long Tail CO, joining in the round, knitting in the round, knitting flat, knit stitch, purl stitch, following/reading chart pattern, knitting with 2 colors, catching floats, short rows, twin stitches, triple stitches, basic increases and decreases (knit front and back, knit 2 together, and slip, slip, knit), weaving in ends, and blocking.

This pattern has linked video tutorials for many of the techniques listed above.
