This pattern is available for free.

The free pattern works up quickly with less than a skein of medium weight yarn. The hat uses front post double crochet stitch to create the cables, interspersed in the increases and decreases of the double crochet stitches that shape the beret. I have a large noggin, so I made sure it was super tight for me in order for it to fit Tomiko’s head. If you’re making it for own head, you can alter the decreases in the row 18, and continue with that number of stitches in rows 19 and 20.
