Designer Notes
The Cable Jaunt Coat is a long tunic length, positive ease garment that features a-line shaping and a high rounded neck. Cables travel the length of the back from the hem to the neck, and from the hem to the empire waist, highlighted by garter stitch ridges, on the front. The pattern includes pockets, because I really prefer to have pockets in my wardrobe pieces. The pockets are optional. If you wish to skip the pockets, just leave out that section of the pattern.

I chose to use Cascade 220 Sport yarn because it is hardy enough to hold up to outer wear use, yet light enough to hold it’s shape on a large garment. The cables really pop with this yarn.

The Cable Jaunt Coat body is worked from the bottom up in one piece. If you choose to incorporate the pockets, you will work the fronts and back separately for several inches to make slits for the pockets, which are added once the body is complete.

The sleeves are simple set in sleeves. The sleeves are worked separately, then are sewn to the body.
The sleeves are primarily worked in the round, with the last portion of the sleeve worked flat.

Always work a large swatch and measure after treating the swatch like you would treat a finished sweater. In other words, wash and block according the lable instructions. In the case of Cascade 220 Sport, wash the swatch in cool water and lay flat to dry before measuring. Note the number of sts and rows that you work for each swatch. Divide the number of sts by the width measurement of your swatch to get the sts per in or cm. For row gauge, divide the number of rows by the height measurement of your swatch to get the rows per in or cm. Then multiply those numbers by 4 for inches or 10 for cm to match up with the numbers above.
