Cable Weave Headband – Free Crochet Pattern

Cable Weave Headband is a textured crochet headband / ear warmer designed for colder seasons. The pattern features a woven cable texture inspired by aran and Celtic stitches, creating a fabric that is both visually interesting and practical for winter wear.

This headband is worked flat in rows using front post stitches to form the cable structure. The resulting fabric is dense, warm, and comfortable, making it a great everyday accessory for winter.

The pattern includes two finishing options:

  • a straight headband
  • a twisted front version

Skill level: Intermediate (basic experience with front post stitches recommended)

Terminology: US crochet terms

Construction: Worked flat in rows, then seamed

Finished size:
Head circumference: 21–22” (54–56 cm)
Width: approx. 4” (10 cm)

What’s included:

  • Complete written instructions
  • A clear stitch chart
  • Step-by-step photo tutorial
  • Detailed explanations of all special stitches
  • Finishing instructions for both straight and twisted versions

This pattern is suitable for crocheters who enjoy textured stitches and structured designs, and it works well as a relaxing but engaging project.

The sample was made with worsted weight yarn (#4), but the pattern is flexible and allows for yarn substitutions as long as gauge is respected. Exact gauge is not critical, which makes this pattern suitable for experimenting with different yarns and textures.

This is a free crochet pattern.
