This is a back and forth project, and cables are really not that hard.

There are two versions for the brim: knitted on in the same color as the rest of the hat (easier), and by picking up stitches. Notice the different brim details in the photos.

Also notice the several ways to do the ties: left loose, braided, or with curlicues.
