A quick and thick hot water bottle cozy - perfect for keeping warm and snuggly all year round!

This project was made using my first skein of homespun yarn - see notes in the blog for details on choosing a yarn to suit the gauge and making adjustments as needed.

The basic version of this pattern is available for FREE on the Craftematics blog!

Materials:

  • Yarn - see notes in the blog post
  • 6mm circular or dpn needles or whatever size is needed to meet the gauge
  • Crochet hook (for the provisional cast on)
  • Cable needle (or an additional dpn)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Snips
  • Stitch marker(s) - optional but recommended

Pattern Versions

When purchasing the pattern, you will have access to FOUR written versions of the pattern - each file title begins with a brief descriptor. The versions are as follows:

“Standard” pattern - includes photos, columns, size 12 font throughout. Color blind accessible - no color-coding is used for pattern details.

Text-Only pattern - this version is printer-friendly and contains no photos at all. Includes columns, size 12 font. Color blind accessible - no color-coding is used for pattern details.

Large Print pattern - appropriate for those with low vision. Uses black sans serif text on white background, font sizes 22 - 24, all italics removed and replaced with bold and underlining. Left-justified text, 1 inch margins, no columns. Photos are included with the alt text provided below each photo as captions in the same 22 point font. Includes abbreviations with key. Footer icons have been replaced with text.

Screen Reader pattern - Uses black sans serif font on white background, size 12 font, no italics. All abbreviations have been replaced with fully written out instructions (e.g. “2 by 2 left cross” instead of “2/2 LC”). Special stitch instructions are still included. Photos are still included with alt text, but the alt text is also included below each photo for usability. Footer icons have been replaced with text. Bracket instructions have been replaced with * instructions - see screen reader notes section for details.

Screen reader version tested with NVDA screen reader.

Chart Versions
When purchasing the pattern, you will have access to THREE versions of the cable chart as companion to the written patterns: standard chart, high contrast, and no grid lines.

All files are digital download pdfs.
