Swaddle your feet in the gentle yet sturdy armour of these Armoured Viking toe-up socks, knit with deliciously rustic, warm, and hard-wearing faroese wool. The textured panel on the instep, which subtly evokes the armour of viking era mail shirts, is delightfully simple to knit, and forms a comfy, cushion-like padding for your feet. The no-numbers-needed fleegle heel construction works beautifully in this design; knitted in a pure wool of a primitive scandinavian sheep-breed, the heel is sturdy, holds its shape and is a comfortable fit for most heel shapes. The textured panel, which extends all the way to the cuff, combined with the ribbed leg, forms a close fit across the ankle and leg. The sock is finished with the beautiful, horizontal braid-effect of the Icelandic bind-off, which is a perfect compliment to the chainmail texture on the instep.
Knit these as short or as tall as you like, making them perfect for transitional weather, as well as mid-winter socks, keeping you warm and held through all of life’s battles…both on the field and off it.
