The inspiration for the Cables and Squares design was from stitch patterns prevalent in the Weldon’s series, published in 19th-century England. Cables with rib and knit/purl textures with rib were often used in sweaters, socks and scarves in Victorian knitting. This style of stitches creates garments with elasticity for comfort, and extra warmth for chilly weather.

The reversible cables and texture patterns used create a reversible scarf. It makes a great gift for the ‘non-knitter’ who is unfamiliar with the ‘right-side’ and ‘wrong-side’ of knitted fabrics - now they will always get the ‘right side’ showing!

Pattern was professionally tech edited by Robin Melanson.
