Cables Go 'Round
This cute and fun to knit hat includes instructions for both worsted and sport weight yarn and can be easily sized up or down to suit you. Detailed information on cables, picking up stitches, decreases, and adjusting the size are all part of the pattern.
The cable panel is knit flat and joined seamlessly, then stitches are picked up for the crown. The pattern includes both charted and written instructions for the cable panel.
For the worsted weight hat you will need approximately 200 yards of yarn, and for the sport weight version you will need approximately 250 yards.
Worsted weight gauge: 21 stitches and 27 rounds in stockinette on size 7 needles. Cable panel should measure 4.5-4.75 inches wide unstretched, knit on size 8 needles.
Sport weight gauge: 30 stitches and 34 rounds in stockinette on size 4 needles. Cable panel should measure 5 inches wide unstretched, knit on size 5 needles.
