The Cailleach design comes straight from the front cover of the Book of Future Possibilities that she carries on a knitted strap on the front of her costume. This was an exercise in creating a pattern that would speak of the moorland landscape but at the same time be small in scale and therefore easy to memorise and knit. I felt my Cailleach would appreciate this, and also the stranded technique of working in the round with steeks at all openings. The style is a classic long-line cardigan with set in sleeves which are worked separately in the round with the sleeve caps worked back and forth in rows. The end result aims to be beautiful, practical and flattering for all ages and shapes.
