Sizes
The witches hat is designed for 18 inch dolls, and has been tried with American Girl, Our Generation and Gotz Precious Day.

The finished hat opening measures 10 cm / 4 inches in diameter, 32 cm / 12 ½ inches in circumference. The hat stands 10 cm / 4 inches tall.The brim of the hat is 5 cm / 2 inches wide.

Tension/Gauge

Stitch gauge: 17 stitches in stocking stitch = 10 cm / 4 inches

Round gauge: 24 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches

Skill level
This is an adventurous beginner / intermediate level pattern. It is a quick 1 day make for an experienced knitter
It uses a closed cast on, such as for a toe up sock or Musselburgh hat. It uses stocking stitch in the round with yarn overs and k2tog decreases and k2tog tbl decreases.

All versions of this pattern are in black text, using Verdana - a clear, sans serif font.
They use an easy to read layout which includes bold for all emphasis, and avoid italics or block capitals.
Text is left justified throughout, and no columns are used.
All instructions are fully written out. Some illustrative pictures are included, but all required information is in the text.
The standard version of this pattern is presented in 15 point font.
The Large Print version is in 22 point font, with additional descriptive text describing images.
