To knit this toy, you will need to:

-Be familiar with toy construction or be an adventurous beginner

-Knit in the round

-Increase and decrease stitches

-Follow instructions for a three-needle decrease (provided in pattern)

Size: The squid stands approximately 6” tall, when knit in worsted weight yarn and 5” tall knit in DK/Light Worsted

-18mm safety eyes were used on the orange squid and 15mm safety eyes were used on the yellow squid

Materials & tools

-Yarn in the weight and color of your choice. For the worsted-weight sample, I used approximately 50 grams of Dancing Dog Dye Works Waltz Worsted (see Sample Info, pg 4). Your yardage will vary based on yarn weight and needle size.
-Needles for working in the round (2 circulars, or 1 long circular for Magic Loop—you could use DPNs, but I don’t recommend them for this pattern). Needle size will vary depending on the yarn you use (see Gauge in pattern).
-An additional needle, same size as above, to use when working a three-needle decrease (tutorial included in pattern)
-Tapestry needle
-Two safety eyes
-Polyfil
-Spare needles or waste yarn to hold live stitches
-12” piece of scrap yarn for eyelids & mouth
