The Calendula shawl begins with a garter stitch tab and spreads outward and downward, first in stockinette stitch, and then transitioning to the circular lace pattern, which can be worked either from the chart or the written instructions. The edging is knitted sideways and gradually joined to the live shawl stitches.

This pattern contains both charts and written instructions.
