DETAILS
There’s a quiet awe that stirs when you crest a mountain’s peak after a long, breathless climb and behold the world unfolding before you. From that height, ridgelines ripple into the distance like waves of stone, each one fading softly into the sky, whispering of the vastness beyond. That feeling of wanderlust and wonder of the natural world is the inspiration for Call of the Wild– a woolen pullover sweater using colorwork, twisted stitches and ribbing to create a topological tapestry of texture.

The Call of the Wild is a unisex, size-inclusive, round-yoked colorwork sweater knit seamlessly from the top down, beginning at the collar. The circular yoke is adorned with twisted stitches that create the silhouette of the distant mountain ridgelines with alternating sections of Stockinette and Half-Twisted Broken Rib, which continue throughout the body and the sleeves. You will separate the sleeves, placing them on hold, while the body is finished all the way to the hem. The sleeves are then returned to the needles, picking up stitches for the underarm, and worked to the cuff.

SUGGESTED YARN
For this sweater, you want three colors that develop a gradient with the darkest color at the bottom. To make it easy - I chose a light neutral tone for my first color and then a lighter and darker version of a blending color, such as a medium-toned sage green and dark-toned forest green, but this sweater allows for a lot of variation and personal creativity, so don’t hold back.
