Calliope is Japanese knot bag that uses a combination of feltable and non-feltable yarns to create an original, textured, colorful bag with an artsy feel. Any feltable yarn from lace weight to bulky weight, and any non-feltable yarn from laceweight to sportweight can be incorporated into the project. So dive into your stash, purchase an interesting yarn or two, and create something entirely your own! Comprehensive guidelines are provided for how to choose and use different yarn combinations, stitches and techniques. The bag is knit in the round from the base up, then lightly felted in a washing machine. This bag is similar to the Marieke, except that it is pear shaped (as opposed to round) and has wider straps.
