Camille-Leonie Doncieux was the subject of many of Claude Monet’s works, yet little is known about this woman who was Monet’s muse, lover, and first wife.

Camille is a three-panel shawlette knit from top down as a gift for Camille Monet who deserved a little luxury to wrap around her shoulders.

Instructions are provided in both chart form and as written directions presented as a table. The shawl can be knit as large or as small as the knitter desires. Directions are provided to make a three-panel shawl or a traditional triangular shawl.I

The unusual shape of this three-panel shawl makes a wingspan measurement difficult. Each panel of the sample shown measures 12” deep by 28” wide at the bottom. Pattern is written so knitter can make shawl as large as he/she desires.

The simple lace represents an impression of camellia petals both as a namesake and as symbol of the gardens Camille and her husband loved but could not afford.

Yarn used in sample was Dyehard Fibre Arts Silky Cashmerino.
