Camino means a path that has been made for walking or driving.

The Camino cowl is an easy and meditative knitting project. The simplicity and repetition of the stitches and the yarn overs make the process effortless and enjoyable, like walking on a smooth path.

The cowl is knit from the top center. Increases are done at the edges and center to create a triangle. Once we are done with these increases we knit evenly to give it length. It is then sewn together.

This pattern has been designed for the South Eastern Wisconsin Wandering Ewe Yarn Crawl where local yarn stores collaborated with Wisconsin independent dyers to create 10 unique colors. A list of the dyers and the colors used in the sample photographed is provided in the pattern.

The pattern is written in US standard terms.

Skill level: intermediate

SUGGESTED YARN and YARDAGE:
DK (3) weight yarn such as Fiber Fever Classic DK (231 yards per 100g) or any DK yarn that meets gauge. The cowl requires approximately 175 yards.

RECOMMENDED NEEDLES:
US 8 / 5mm circular needles or size needed to achieve gauge. Choose a cord length that is long enough to accommodate the stitches, at least 32’’ / 80 cm long.

GAUGE:
16 sts x 24 rows in 4x4” / 10x10 cm with US 8 / 5 mm needles flat and blocked.
