We have been looking for a good basic sock with a gusset, could this be it?
Usually our sock patterns don’t have a gusset, few have tips for making the sock bit bigger if needed. But we thought we’ll try to make a sock with gusset so tell us if this is a good one. The math was interesting and we are keen to see how it actually works.

These socks are knit toe up and have simple stripe pattern. The socks have gusset, heel flap and short row heel (we are just avoiding the traditional gusset and flap heel as long as we can!)

Choose three colours like the sample socks or make every stripe different colour. The sample socks used solid pink as MC, solid bluer as CC1, and a variegated yarn as CC2. The colors were choose to match.

Pattern uses the following

  • Judy’s magic cast on
  • Increases: Make one left, make one right
  • Charted colourwork
  • Gusset and heel flap
  • W&T heel
  • Decreases: k2tog, ssk
