Canezou

This pattern is available for free.

This pattern from 1848 features a canezou, a type of jacket or shawl worn over the shoulders, often paired with a corset and/or belted at the waist.

Note that the pattern begins on page 39 and combines the Chemisette pattern (beginning page 40) with the border from the previous Shetland Shawl pattern (beginning page 35). “The chemisette pattern and the border for Shetland Shawl are easily arranged to form an elegant canezou.”

Materials suggested: “Taylor’s Mecklenburgh Thread, No. 6; Pins No. 14, Bell Gauge. Or Black Netting Silk.”
