The pig is a much misaligned creature in our society, You know the references: sweating like a pig, slippery as a greased pig, there are road hogs, and greedy lipsticked pigs wallowing in the mud. No one wants to be the boar at the party and you certainly don’t want to bleed like a stuck pig either. But the pig is a plump benevolent creature that doesn’t deserve the bad press.
These knit pigs are squishy and soft with a little pocket in the tummy to hide a small toy or treat. They can be knit in a variety of sizes by varying your yarn choice and adjusting the needle size accordingly. You can also use up leftover yarn to make striped and spotted pigs.
Knit with worsted weight yarn, the large piggy is perfect for a child to cuddle with and keep secrets in its pocket. The smallest is the Spamette. It is knit with sock weight yarn and makes a great little friend that will fit in your pocket or purse. Knit with cotton and stuffed with nylon netting, this little piggy is a great bath scrubby with a pocket for soap.
