A canon in is a delightful interplay of melodies, where one voice introduces a theme that other voices echo, creating layers of sound that can be both simple and complex. Knitting these socks is as easy and unique as singing a canon.

The architecture of these socks is the same as other sock patterns in My 7 X’s collection. Their uniqueness comes from using helical knitting and different stitch pattern sequences. Combining Helical knitting and assorted stitch sequences will introduce you to Spiral Knitting. Two yarns and a pair of complimenting sequences will play together just as the voices singing a canon will. Knitting begins with one yarn creating a simple stockinette. A second yarn and a stitch pattern is added in and soon another sequence joins the first. The pattern unfolds in all its glory on the sock cuff.

This pattern can be knitted with any sock yarn. Depending on the size of sock you will need two 30 to 60 g balls. Both yarns can be identical, but there can be more or less contrast between them. The yarn can be solid coloured, variegated or gradient (in this case you can use the yarn from both ends of the ball).

It is not necessary to match my gauge — every knitter chooses the size of the socks according to her gauge and yarn.
