Canyon Walk Hat uses an accordion rib stitch that is a combination of ribbing, stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches. The stitch pattern gives a rich texture and squishy feel to the knit fabric. Not as tight as a beanie, this hat still hugs the head, yet retains a bit of stretch.

This pattern started on a flight between Detroit and Phoenix. It was autumn and I was headed to Arizona for the winter months.

Our winter place is a hop, skip, and jump away from desert trails where my walking becomes more of an easy hike. Sometimes, too, I like to be out at night in the cool desert air just for a short stroll up the street and back.

I tuck a flashlight and cellphone into my pocket and I reach for a hat as I head out into the sparkling night. Canyon Walk Hat is the kind of warm head topper that hugs ears and look stylish.

This hat is easy knitting. Enjoy the knitting and stay warm!
