Caolán the Crow
This crow crochet pattern is ideal for improving beginner crochet level and up.
I have a free video tutorial for the crow on YT.
This PDF pattern includes detailed written instructions, many step-by-step photos of the process, and access to the ad-free video tutorial.
It comes with a PDF crochet guide that explains techniques such as the magic ring, invisible sc decreases, and closing small rounds.
LANGUAGE: English (US) only
SIZE:
The crow will be about 11 cm/4.3” long from head to tail. It will have a wingspan of about 14cm/5.5” if using the indicated yarn weight and hook size.
If you would like it to be larger or smaller, you can use a different yarn weight and adjust the hook size accordingly.
CONSTRUCTION:
The beak, head, body and tail are crocheted in one piece. The wings are sewn on. There is the option of attaching wired feet.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
- 4-ply (fingering/sport weight) or DK (light worsted weight) yarn in black and gray (I used Scheepjes Catona in Jet Black (110) and Anthracite (501))
- 2.5mm crochet hook (size B-1 or C-2, depending on how tightly you crochet)
- 2mm (A-0) hook for the beak
- Black or brown and white embroidery floss
- Fiberfill
- Yarn needle (preferably with bent tip)
- Large-eyed sewing needle
- Stitch marker
- Sewing pins
- Scissors
- 1mm (AWG 18) craft wire for the feet (optional)
- Small flat pliers to shape the feet (optional)
