Cape Breton Zip
ABOUT
This top down raglan sweater is worked in all over Half Fisherman’s Rib, and finished with a zipper. This pattern has been successfully knit with fingering, sport, fingering+lace held double and DK weight yarn at the given gauge. The collar is double thick and creates a channel for the zipper. The compound raglan shaping provides a comfortable fit when combined with short-row shaping at the neck. The body is adjustable to any length, and the pattern includes instructions for shortening or lengthening the sleeves to suit. This design is named after Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada, one of the places where I knit and designed this sweater while visiting.
Cape Breton Island was first, and is still, known as Unama’ki to the Mi’kmaq People; this name is commonly translated to land of fog, a perfect description of the island.
Pattern Length: 27 pages. Including instructions for sewing in the zipper by hand with photos & a video link of a sewing demonstration (of the zipper being hand sewn into the sample), notes and advice from testers of the pattern, advice for selecting a zipper and instructions for a gauge swatch.

YARN REQUIREMENTS & SUGGESTED NEEDLES
Your yardage will depend on your gauge, size and yarn chosen. These are estimates based on testing.
The fabric & gauge are very flexible; by changing needle sizes, I, and the testers, were able to achieve gauge with a heavy sock weight to a light DK weight. The sample was knit using sport weight yarn and 3.75mm (US 5) needles. Below are these yarn weight and their suggested corresponding needle size.
SPORT WEIGHT (used in sample): 3.75mm needles
SOCK or FINGERING WEIGHT: 4.0mm needles
SOCK + LACE WEIGHT (held double): 3.75mm
LIGHT DK: 3.5mm needles
