Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has helped to keep ships safe since 1870. In addition to serving is primary purpose, it has also become iconic. Artists and craftspeople use this lighthouse as inspiration for many projects. This knit wall hanging was made by Ranger Stephanie DeMatteo. She is an intermediate knitter and beginner pattern creator.
The pattern will create a wall hanging of approximately eight inches wide and 24 inches long, depending on the materials you choose to use. It is knit flat in Fair Isle, but could also lend itself to intarsia or duplicate stitching, depending on skill level and comfort.
In addition to a knitting chart and written knitting instructions, we have also included a color chart that could be adapted to other crafts like crochet and cross stitch, or even mosaic or gem painting.
You are welcome to use and modify this pattern in any way you would like. Just be sure to share the results with us when your masterpiece is complete!
