Inspired by the unique flora and birdlife of the Western Cape in South Africa, these socks feature a stranded colourwork motif of a Cape Sugarbird perched on a pincushion flower. It’s a design that celebrates the textures of the fynbos, translated into a cozy, wearable project.

These socks are worked cuff-down and in the round. The pattern begins with a German Twisted Cast On for a comfortable, stretchy edge, followed by a crisp half-twisted rib. The leg features a detailed colourwork chart, leading into a classic slip-stitch heel flap and gusset for a durable and familiar fit.

Fingering weight sock yarn needed.

These socks are a tribute to the landscape I call home in Cape Town. Whether you’re a local or just a fan of botanical knits, I hope you enjoy bringing this little piece of the Cape to your needles.
