This generously sized shawl starts with a garter stitch half moon. Stitches are picked up on the curved edge adding a lace panel and scalloped lace edging. There is a garter stitch border on the top of the shawl. Two colors highlight the changes in stitch pattern.

The smallest needles are used for the striped body of the shawl with medium needles for the inner border and largest needles for the outer border. We recommend 40” or longer needles, especially for the two larger sized needles.

The Capitol Hill Shawl takes 800 yards of the main color and 435 yards of the contrast color.

The shawl pictured was made with Jorstad Creek Yarns’ Orcas in Sonya’s Red and Medium Gray. Kits available from Jorstad Creek include the pattern.
