Much like the musical term capriccio, this shawl is a free form yet structured design to show off the beauty of the Jorstad Creek Antigua gradient yarn, especially when paired with the drape and shine of Iona. The three paneled shawl sits easily on the shoulders with or without pinning. The color notes (intermittent short row sections) may be placed where you want or follow the pattern. It’s up to you!

The shawl has stripes of a gradient yarn placed on a solid color background with drops of the gradient color artfully placed in the body and along the bottom border. It is fun to knit and easy to make it unique by changing the color notes to play your own tune.

Kits from Jorstad Creek Yarns include the pattern.

Errata note: Capriccio Shawl patterns purchased in 2018 (both here and in print) are missing the instruction to wrap and turn (W&T) in Rows 88 and 126. In both places the instruction should be “… P until 5 st remain in the panel, W&T, knit to the end of the row”.

Errata note: The definition of SRS in the abbreviations has been changed to Short Row Sequence for Contrasting Color Notes for clarity. April 19, 2019
