This shawl began as a love note to a yarn. June Cashmere is a remarkable company with a remarkable product and a remarkable story. Their Cashmere DK is a dream to work with, and I wanted to create a design that showcased not only the beautiful texture of their 100% Kyrgyz Cashmere, but also the thoughtfully curated selection of colors they’ve created: thus Capricorn was born.

Why is it called Capricorn? Well, it’s not terribly mystical, actually. The cozy garter slip stitch pattern reminds me of fish scales, and cashmere comes from goats, and we all remember the simple equation: fish+goats=Capricorn.
This shawl is knit with one skein each in 4 colors. The pattern includes suggestions for color palettes.
