This pattern is available for free.

This free crochet pattern for a poncho is great for babies and small kids to wear in their car seats, but the tutorial can be followed to make any size!

While I first labeled this pattern as a 2T-3T size, I think it could be used for many older babies as well. The description therefore starts at 12mo here.

The shape for this poncho is rectangular, because I thought that I thought that this shape would allow more freedom for moving the arms with as long as I wanted to make it, and because I wanted children to be able to wear this very easily out of a carseat as well.

The poncho body is worked in one piece, with the hood and edge ribbing added afterwards.
