This is a crochet pattern for a blanket made using tapestry crochet.

It has a simple but elegant design and would make a wonderful baby blanket.

The blanket is formed as a solid granny square, initially in a single colour. This plain part is followed by a patterned part comprising a round of hearts (five per side) crocheted using the tapestry crochet technique. The blanket is finished off with an attractive border that complements the hearts.

The blanket uses two different contrasting yarn colours (although you could use more if you prefer).

The pattern includes photos showing how to do tapestry crochet, full written instructions, tips and a chart for making the blanket. It would be suitable for a competent beginner or intermediate crocheter looking to try tapestry crochet for the first time.

For a video tutorial on how to do tapestry crochet, please see this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/sqQxQQ-Szig

The finished blanket, made with aran yarn, measures 91 x 91 cm.

The pattern uses aran weight yarn although you could use a thicker weight if you prefer.

The pattern is available to download in both UK and US terms.

Crochet level: competent beginner to intermediate.
