Princess Caraboo has been one of my favorite movies since I was a little girl. I would dream of being an exotic South Sea Islands princess captured by pirates who escaped only to be marooned in the strange land of English aristocracy. Not only was her story enchanting but the costumes were gorgeous. No matter what she was wearing, the Princess always looked utterly regal and charming with her whimsical twist on the styles of the era. I imagine her today wearing this wrap around the house on a chilly English morning. The yarn is buttery and soft, and just enough to keep your shoulders warm when a gossamer shawl just won’t cut it anymore. The pattern is involved enough that you need to pay attention, but at the same time it is intuitive, and very quick to knit up. It makes a great last-minute gift that looks like it took a lot more time and work than it actually did, and the yarn is not only luscious, but relatively affordable.

NB: Gauge is not terribly important for this pattern, but in the size listed it did take all 5 skeins worth. Also, it is very easy to make this pattern larger or smaller than the written size: just change the number of repeats in the middle section.
