An asymmetric triangular shawl with playful colours and chevrons.

This shawl was inspired by a Summer spent in the Sonoran Desert in the Southwest of the United States. This harsh environment is surprisingly fertile with many plants thriving in the dry climate. We spent days surrounded by cheerful colours, Nature’s greenery gently swaying in the breeze, and the bright sunshine smiling in windows. Even in the desert, the late Summer months can be filled with splashes of colour. The many varieties of cactus produce flowers and the green prickly pear wears a vibrant shawl of pink fruit. We found happiness and small moments of joy in these little things when we took time to stop and breathe.

With stripes, lace and mosaic knitting, there are plenty of techniques here to keep a seasoned knitter entertained and to allow an adventurous newer knitter to develop some new skills. Worked from a single point, this shawl uses paired increases and decreases to make the asymmetrical triangle shape.

The lace and mosaic sections are charted and written so you can follow your preferred method of instructions.

The sky’s the limit with this pattern. You can use your choice of colours to create the shawl of your dreams, letting your cares fly free in the wind.
