This is a pattern I used to make two simple potholders, one with a fpdc and the other with a dc spike stitch. Both are about 7” H x 6” W when the border is added.

I like the two variations on the stitch so much that I know it will easily also work into a scarf, throw pillow cover or even a lap blanket.

My husband also likes to use these when he details cars. He says the crochet texture is good for getting bugs off of fenders, hoods and car grills.
