I knew when I got my hands on this yarn at the local store that it was destined to be cabled. While editing a cable stitch pattern for the crown decreases, I realized that it was reminding me of a castle. Carmilla is the villain from one of my favorite anime movies, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The “spires” of this hat remind me of her spaceship castle. Feel free to use any DK weight yarn with good stitch definition and good stitch memory.

Notes:
This is not a snug hat. If you are looking for a closer fit, you might need to adjust your gauge.

If you use the Lana Gatto Feeling, I would buy a second ball just in case. I barely used the second ball and you might not need it at all, but you could make a pom pom with it and that would look nice too.

Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm), 16” (40 cm) circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge

Yarn: Lana Gatto Feeling (DK weight; 70% Extra Fine Merino, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere; 153 yd/140 m, 1.76 oz/50 g). 1-2 balls in Grey.

Yardage: 150-175 yd (137-160 m)

Gauge: 4” (10 cm) =
24 sts/34 rows in cable stitch pattern
24 sts/26 rows in stockinette stitch

Measurements: 20” (51 cm) circumference, 8” (20.5 cm) tall
