This pattern was knit on an Authentic Knitting Board which is adjustable to obtain gauge. As this technique creates a double knit fabric, this beanie will be extra warm. There is some crocheting involved to finish off the hat. It isn’t fully necessary, the straps could be made on a knitting nancy to create i-cord. The picot edge is simply decorative and not integral to the hats structure.
