The lace patterns remind me of water cascading over the cliffs of our beautiful North Carolina mountains. Western North Carolina is noted to be “The Land of Waterfalls” with over 250 in the area.

This Acymmetrical Shawl is knit with 5/2 Tencel, a hand dyed, tightly spun, man-made silk, to give it a beautiful drape. It is light weight which lends itself to a warmer climate shawl or just a fashion statement. The sample was knit in 5/2 Tencel.

You may substitute 10/2 Tencel (920 yds) or Lace weight yarn (920 yds), but you will need to use a size 3 needle.

This is a very simple lace pattern incorporating yarn overs, decreases and standard knit and purl stitches. The corner turn of this lace edge design incorporates short rows to carry the edge design around the corner of the scarf and also the slant of the finished edge before bind off.
