I have been knitting Poppies for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal since 2014 have developed a number of poppy flower patterns. They vary from quick knits with basic yarn to more time consuming patterns; I have even included beads on some designs.

I have put a collection of five of my quick Poppy patterns together and hope others will join me in knitting poppies for this wonderful charity.

All the money from the sales of these patterns will also go to the RBL Poppy Appeal.

All these Poppies are knitted in two pieces (the middle is knitted separately and sewn on) as I found that gave the best looking poppy. The twist technique gives the look of petals without having to knit them separately. They just need a few metres of red yarn for the flower and a scrap of black for the middle. I have suggested double knitting yarn and 3.25mm (US3) needles but you can vary the sizes of the poppies by using different needles and yarn. Gauge is not important.
